Five O’ Clock Steak House, formerly Coerper’s Five O’Clock Club, announced it came to an agreement for an undisclosed amount of money that would allow musician Jimmy Buffett to name his new restaurant “Five O’ Clock Somewhere.”
According to Amanda Behrman from Behrman & Associates, “The Five O’Clock Steak House in Milwaukee owns the rights to and was the first to trademark any bar or restaurant which uses ‘Five O’Clock’ in it’s name.”
Stelio Kalkounos, managing partner of Five O’Clock Steak House, said in a statement the arrangement was amicable.
“When we learned Jimmy Buffett was opening the ‘Five O’ Clock Somewhere’ concept, we quickly seized the opportunity to work together with Mr. Buffett instead of moving forward with a potentially adverse route,” he says.
